Creature Companions
The solitude of space can prove tough to bear for even the most hardened soloist. It’s no wonder, then, that across the entire galaxy, members of countless species take up creature companions ranging from show pets to emotional support animals to combat-ready mounts. Whether such a pairing is born of cultural tradition, lucky happenstance, or even reluctant necessity, few bonds are stronger.

Flockay Companions
Source
Starfinder Enhanced pg. 133
Different varieties of colorful, musical flockays are found on many worlds throughout the galaxy—so many that some believe Shelyn herself put them there, so that they could bring beauty to the forests in which they are found. These flying creatures inhabit a variety of trees and are easily spotted by the rainbow plumage on the crown of their head. They are easily domesticated, which has further led to their ubiquity in many solar systems, including the Pact Worlds.
Simpleminded creatures, flockays happily chirp in “conversation” with anyone who takes the time to sit and eat with them. Their mating rituals are marked by collecting and presenting a variety of foodstuffs to one other, and so their bonding process with other species is similar. When sharing a meal, a flockay often fetches nearby fresh fruit or insects for their meal mate.
Once a flockay companion bonds with someone, it enjoys continually filling its companion’s life with uplifting melodies. However, if the flockay’s bonded one is threatened, it becomes loudly mournful, transforming its normally beautiful song into a melancholy weapon.

Special Abilities
Sad Song (Ex)
The Flockay song is notoriously sad. As a standard action, a flockay can start to sing a slow, painful song of mourning, targeting a single creature within 30 feet; the target must succeed at a Fortitude saving throw (DC = 10 + 1-1/2 × the flockay’s level) or take 1d4 damage as its mind is filled with sorrow. Creatures targeted by this ability are immune to further instances of sad song for 24 hours. The damage from this ability increases by 1d4 every 3 levels beyond 1st. This is a mind-affecting emotion effect.
Saving Song (Ex)
Once every 10 minutes, as a reaction when you cast a spell, your flockay companion can start to sing an inspiring melody. This grants all allies within 30 feet a +1 circumstance bonus to saving throws of a specific type (Fortitude, Reflex, or Will), chosen when the flockay uses this ability, that lasts until the end of your next turn.
