Creature Companions
The solitude of space can prove tough to bear for even the most hardened soloist. It’s no wonder, then, that across the entire galaxy, members of countless species take up creature companions ranging from show pets to emotional support animals to combat-ready mounts. Whether such a pairing is born of cultural tradition, lucky happenstance, or even reluctant necessity, few bonds are stronger.

Poypoik Companions
Source
Starfinder Enhanced pg. 135
While anacites, androids, and SROs are fully sapient beings, nonsapient technological creatures have often attained status akin to an animal or family pet. Taking the form of an irregularly shaped polyhedron covered with a shiny touch-sensitive coating; poypoiks were originally a pre-Gap series of “digital pets” created by the hobgoblins of the Marixah Republic for children to play with and learn how to care for a pet. Sometime after Triune sent the Signal into the Vast, poypoiks began to show self-awareness, but never sentience beyond animal intelligence. Following this, manufacture of the toys increased, with careful screening so they could be properly cared for and sold to those wishing to have a true “digital” pet.
Poypoiks are creatures with their own uniquely shaped housing and screen tint that they pick themselves. One side is slightly magnetized, allowing them to be attached to a suit of armor, metallic jewelry, or even weapons. Though they are immobile, they love being able to see the universe around them, and gleefully beep and boop at sights that they enjoy, often echoing when their owner is visibly or audibly happy. The worst punishment one can inflict upon a poypoik is placement in a pocket or other container where it can’t see its surroundings.

Special Abilities
Electric Spark (Su):
Every 1d4 rounds, a poypoik can emit a directed spark of electricity as a ranged attack that targets EAC and has a range increment of 30 feet.
Quick Recharge (Su):
As a move action, you can attach your poypoik to a technological device or weapon that uses a battery in order to fully recharge it. This puts the poypoik into a harmless slumber, rendering it unconscious and unable to use any abilities until you take one hour to recharge it either by expending a standard (or greater) battery or connecting it to a recharging station or starship.
Sound the Alarm (Ex):
Poypoiks are always paying attention to what is going on around them. As long as your poypoik is attached to you or your worn or carried equipment and conscious, you gain a +1 insight bonus to initiative. This bonus increases by 1 at 5th level and every 5 levels thereafter.
