Creature Companions
The solitude of space can prove tough to bear for even the most hardened soloist. It’s no wonder, then, that across the entire galaxy, members of countless species take up creature companions ranging from show pets to emotional support animals to combat-ready mounts. Whether such a pairing is born of cultural tradition, lucky happenstance, or even reluctant necessity, few bonds are stronger.

Rogatrich Companions
Source
Starfinder Enhanced pg. 136
Rogatriches are territorial, cantankerous elementals similar in appearance to a large bipedal bird. Native to frigid regions of the Plane of Water, rogatriches regularly find their way to the Material Plane, particularly to regions with constant cold temperatures.
Rogatriches live on ice sheets and love to swim, though they also can be found on land in snowy regions when liquid water sources are scarce. They use their powerful beaks to peck through ice and shatter ice sheets, in addition to protecting themselves. While they don’t need to eat to survive, rogatriches enjoy catching and eating fish.
In the wild, rogatriches often create nest mounds of ice or snow, which they burrow into and consider their territory. On the rare occasions rogatriches encounter manufactured structures, from vehicles and starships to homes and other buildings, they adopt these structures as their territory instead—often to the chagrin of the structure’s original inhabitants—hauling in ice chunks and snow to make the site more comfortable.
Rogatriches are challenging to train and tame. They’re moody and stubborn even when trained and well-treated, and they tend to do what they want more often than they do what they’re told. It’s said that only the foolhardy bother trying to train a rogatrich—a claim made by rogatrich owners as often as it is by those who mock them. Once a rogatrich’s trust is earned, however, it can serve as a hardy, reliable mount.

A rogatrich can move across icy surfaces without penalty and doesn’t need to attempt Acrobatics checks to run or charge on ice.
